Nothing specific as such-just you and nature. You'll be ferried to the island in a boat and you get to spend time there as much as you want and need to return before 4.30 PM. You can either walk around and explore the vegetation or spread a mat, setup a camp and relax for some time.

We got up at around 5:30am and headed downstairs to checkout. We were told that this would be no problem but as we wandered down the stairs, there were no lights on in the reception and no signs of life, with the front door locked.

Wayanad is relatively less touristy, unexplored and unexploited area of Kerala. This lies high in the Western Ghats, and is home to a few wildlife sanctuaries, tall hills and tea estates. Kalpetta is the largest town and district headquarters of Wayanad.

Weekend Getaway to Wayanad - By Travelogue.com
The 275km distance from Bangalore to Sulthan Batthery, Wayanad was covered in about 7hrs by bus. We stayed at Issac's The Resort. Some photographs from the trip are shown below. You can see all the photographs at Share-A-Pic.

Bangalore - Wayanad Weekend Trip: - By Travelgoogy.com
After this blog post, there were so many mails which i received asking for recommendation on affordable stay in Wayand. I strongly recommend opting for a homestay accommodation as wayanad has plenty of them. So if you are going as a group, staying in a house rather in hotel in wayanad will be a wonderful experience.

We woke up to chirping sound of birds. It was a welcome break from the busy day schedule. Went for a small walk with cameras dangling around our neck. There were plenty of birds around us.

    PAYANIGA » Wayanad - Day 3: - By Payaniga.com
We got up a little bit late on Sunday. Got ready and headed towards Meppadi. Our first destination - Chembra peak, which is the highest peak in Wayanad, at 2100m above sea level. Trekking to the top takes 3-5 hours depending on the trekker. We took 4 hours to reach the top, including an hours break for photo-shoot & resting.

The Wayanad escapade: - By Srikanthperinkulam.com
At about 06:40 hrs the bus we're travelling breaks down about 13kms before Chickballapur. Just before we decide hopping onto a Buffalo van , an APSRTC luxury liner screeches to a halt in front of us. Five of us and a couple of others hop into it and by 08:10hrs we reach Yatri Nivas. Madhuri, Eby, Sasank, Rachesh, Shruti and Manoj reach there well before us.

Trek to Chembra peak, Wayanad - By Howyoudoin.Wordpress.com/
This was my first holiday after nearly four years. Canceling a much anticipated plan, i decided to go to Wayanad, i can't say if it was worth more than the other plan for reasons not so obvious. Anyway, five of us left on a hired cab on Friday evening from work. This trek was in summer, May 2007.

Ee Prapancha: Wayanad Trip - Day 2: - By Raveeshkumar.com
Part1 of the Wayanad trip is here. Continuing after that, Nidhi was the first one to wake up next morning. When it was about 6 30 am everyone was inside the four wheeler to reach first destination of that day, Lakkidi. Within 15 minutes of drive from Kalpetta, we were in Lakkidi.

Well, its been a few days since i've posted anything ... partly due to the hang-over from a recent team outing to Wayanad located in God's own country a.k.a. the beautiful and very green state of Kerala.

Trip to Wayanad - By Ritwik's Blog Wayanad is really an incredible place which borders with a large Reserve Forest area. We were fortunate enough to see a couple of wild elephants while crossing the border.
