Uravu Charitable trust - Wayanad, Kerala

Uravu is a charitable trust that works in the area of indigenous sciences and technology. They run a successful bamboo crafts design and production centre along with a bamboo nursery. Uravu has a whole range of functional and decorative products created out of this wonderful material found so abundantly in Wayanad.
Uravu is a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Kalpetta of Wayanad district in Kerala. Uravu is a non-profit organization that works with underprivileged and marginalized local people, and trains them in the skill of bamboo processing and handicraft making. The center has a small shop that sells a range of handicraft items.

It was set up in 1996 to promote bamboo processing and to impart training in it. The inhabitants of Thrikkaipetta village, mostly tribals, find a livelihood in the bamboo processing unit founded by Uravu.
